Dr David S. Grieve

After qualifying as a medical doctor, Dr Grieve gained experience across a broad range of clinical settings. His early career included trauma medicine during military service, followed by general practice.

He subsequently spent several years working extensively as a surgical assistant alongside specialists in disciplines including plastic surgery, general surgery, orthopaedics, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, and obstetrics and gynaecology.

This combination of general medical and surgical experience contributed to the detailed understanding of anatomy, clinical assessment and patient safety that continues to inform his approach to medicine and aesthetic practice today.

Dr Grieve has also been involved in international medical repatriation work and has maintained an ongoing commitment to continuing professional development throughout his career.

In addition to his MBChB, he completed an Advanced Management Programme through the Foundation for Professional Development and an MBA through the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), together with further professional training in areas including travel medicine, pharmacology and aesthetic medicine.

Education forms an important part of Dr Grieve's professional work.

In addition to his role as a part-time lecturer in Pharmacology at the University of Pretoria, he has been involved in the education, training and support of other medical practitioners within aesthetic medicine.

He has attended and presented at professional aesthetic medicine meetings, workshops and conferences and has contributed to discussions and education surrounding safe aesthetic practice.

A particular professional interest is the prevention, early recognition and management of complications associated with aesthetic procedures. Dr Grieve regularly assists and advises medical colleagues faced with difficult aesthetic cases or potential complications.

He believes that responsible aesthetic medicine extends well beyond learning how to perform a procedure. Practitioners should have a sound understanding of anatomy, pharmacology, appropriate patient selection, treatment planning, potential complications and, importantly, how to recognise and manage those complications when they occur.

DS Grieve Aesthetics is a private, medically led practice based in Eldoraigne, Centurion.

The practice has deliberately retained a personal environment. Patients are treated as individuals, with consultations focused on understanding their concerns, medical history, expectations and treatment goals before recommending an appropriate course of action.

Dr Grieve's wife, Ronel, a registered nurse, is also involved in the practice and assists with patient care and skin-care services.

The philosophy of the practice is straightforward: professional medical care, honest advice, patient safety and treatments that are appropriate for the individual patient.
